The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed running back Jamaal Charles, posting a short video of the signing on Twitter.

The 31-year-old Charles spent last season as a backup with the Denver Broncos.

Does signing Charles mean Fournette injury is serious?

The natural question with news of the signing: Does this mean Leonard Fournette will be out for a while?

Fournette has missed three of Jacksonville’s five games due to a hamstring injury. He was hurt in Week 1, then returned in Week 4, only to aggravate it in that game against the Jets.

There are already reports that he won’t return for this week’s game against the Cowboys. Beyond that remains unclear; the Jaguars’ bye is in Week 9.

The Jaguars also brought in Charcandrick West for a workout before signing Charles.

How much does Charles have left?

The Jaguars and quarterback Blake Bortles certainly need help at running back, but in NFL years, Charles’ 2012-14 seasons, when he was named to the Pro Bowl each year and a first-team All-Pro in 2013, are a long time ago.

Last year with Denver, Charles appeared in 14 games with no starts, getting 69 carries for 296 yards (4.9 YPC) and a touchdown; he did add 23 catches for 129 yards.
