Florida set to host 4-star ATH commit on official visit

Florida’s longest-standing commitment in the class of 2023 belongs to four-star athlete Aaron Gates, but he’s just now preparing to take his official visit to the Swamp, according to 247Sports.

The Trinity Christian (Sharpsburg, Georgia) product was the only commit to stick with Florida through the coaching change, but even he had doubts about sticking with the Gators when Dan Mullen was let go. Fortunately, a meeting with Billy Napier cleared up those doubts and Gates appears to be all in on the Gators.

He’ll be in town on Dec. 9 to check things out one last time before the early signing period. Michigan is still trying to convince him to flip, but this trip should lock things in for Gates. His last visit to Ann Arbor came over the summer and was an official one, but he seems to have cooled off on the Wolverines.

Cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond and defensive coordinator/safeties coach Patrick Toney are the lead recruiters for Gates and are pushing to make him feel like a priority.

Gates is a moldable athlete with plenty of speed and instincts to succeed in the SEC. He stands at an unverified 6 feet tall and weighs in at 180 pounds, which is the ideal size for a defensive back.

The 247Sports composite ranks Gates at No. 336 overall in the class of 2023 and No. 19 among athletes.
