Daily Sports Smile: Cooper Kupp meets 97-year-old veteran who went viral on TikTok

Star wide receiver Cooper Kupp went out of his way to create a special memory for a 97-year-old World War II veteran Sunday before the Los Angeles Rams hosted the Carolina Panthers in a Week 6 matchup.

Kupp met William Goode on the field and signed a personalized jersey for the veteran.

Goode went viral in September when he was featured in a TikTok posted by user Isaiah Garza where Garza and Goode — two complete strangers — spent a day together at Disneyland.

The emotional video features the two enjoying rides and dancing. At one point, Goode thanks Garza for inviting him to Disneyland, saying he "thought my life was over" and "you don't know how much I appreciate this" as the veteran held back tears.

During a segment on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" Tuesday, host Peter Schrager shared the meeting between Kupp and Goode and said Kupp loved the TikTok video, which had been viewed more than 17 million times, and found out both he and Goode were from the same hometown of Yakima, Washington.

Kupp then discovered Goode was a fan and invited him out to Sunday's game where the two chatted on the sideline as Kupp autographed the jersey.

"You're the best they got," Goode told Kupp in a video posted to Twitter by ESPN reporter Sarah Barshop. "The best."

Goode then wished Kupp "good luck" before the game, which the Rams won 24-10.
