Cam Akers bids farewell to Rams, thanks them for ‘opportunity of a lifetime’

After a few days of shopping him, the Los Angeles Rams found a taker for Cam Akers. The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to acquire him in a swap of 2026 draft picks, taking in the former second-round pick out of Florida State.

After the trade was announced, Akers took to social media to share a message for the Rams. He thanked them for the “opportunity of a lifetime” and is looking forward to his next chapter in Minnesota.

He’ll get to reunite with Kevin O’Connell and Wes Phillips, who were on the Rams’ coaching staff when Akers was there, so he’ll have a couple familiar faces in Minnesota’s building.

Akers spent three-plus years with the Rams after being selected 52nd overall in 2020, rushing for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns in his career with Los Angeles.
