Plaxico Burress found Saban's draft grade comments inauthentic

Nick Saban's comments about how the draft grade process possibly affected his team's chemistry before the Sugar Bowl didn't seem very authentic to one of his former wide receivers.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress played for Saban at Michigan State. His final season was also Saban's final season with the Spartans. Burress was drafted in the 2000 NFL draft while Saban went to LSU.

Saban was announced as LSU's coach in November of 1999 and resigned as Michigan State's coach after the final game of the regular season. Burress said Saban told his players he wasn't leaving for LSU.

Burress was the eighth overall pick in the 2000 draft by the Steelers. Saban was in the NFL four years after Burress, though he went to Alabama after coaching the Miami Dolphins for the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Saban's Tide lost to Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. He said Wednesday morning he'd like to have the draft grade process moved back into January. Underclassmen currently apply to get their grades for the upcoming draft in December and have until January 15 to make a decision about entering the draft.
