Former UCF RB Kevin Smith arrested at the school Wednesday

Former UCF running back Kevin Smith, the school's all-time leading rusher, was arrested on UCF's campus Wednesday.

According to police, Smith was allegedly in a car accident on Saturday on campus. He was tracked down by an officer on Wednesday to sign citations from the crash, and Smith denied any involvement. He then started walking away from the officer, who arrested him after he didn't stop.

From WKMG 6:

The officer then started explaining the criminal citation -- driving on a suspended license -- and Smith walked away, according to authorities.  The officer said he walked after Smith and told him to stop, but Smith continued walking.

The officer said he dropped his paperwork, "seized" Smith and arrested him.

Smith is also accused of improper backing and leaving the scene of the accident and charged with resisting arrest without violence. He posted bond on Wednesday afternoon. He was arrested while going to a class on Wednesday morning.

From WESH 2:

"It's a shame," Smith said. "Everything that went on."

Smith would not comment on the alleged crash Saturday.

"Police can do whatever they want to do. That's what police do. They do what they want," he said.

Smith, who played at UCF from 2005-2007, racked up 2,567 rushing yards in his junior season before he declared early for the NFL draft. He has 4,679 career rushing yards and was a third round pick of the Detroit Lions in the 2008 NFL draft. He played for five seasons in the NFL and his most productive pro season was his rookie year, when he ran for 976 yards and eight toughdowns.
