Bengals have 1 healthy QB after Patriots swipe Will Grier

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t have quarterback Will Grier as an option behind Joe Burrow when they take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 — or any week after.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots claimed Grier off Cincinnati’s practice squad on Thursday.

That means Jake Browning is the only healthy quarterback on the roster behind Burrow. It’s unclear if the Bengals did anything to prevent the Pats from poaching Grier, as he was the backup plan as a No. 3 quarterback after final 53 cuts.

The Bengals could loop back to Trevor Siemian or Reid Sinnett, two guys who didn’t make the cut over the summer. Last year’s backup, Brandon Allen is the third quarterback in San Francisco.

Normally, obviously, this wouldn’t be that big of a deal. But the Bengals say soreness is still an issue for Burrow despite him saying the extra day of rest gives him hope about playing.
