Andrew Whitworth reached out to Jared Goff to congratulate him on Lions’ first win

Andrew Whitworth and Jared Goff became close during their four seasons together with the Rams, even with the significant gap in age. So when Goff earned his first victory with the Lions on Sunday afternoon, it was hardly surprising that Whitworth reached out to him to congratulate him on the win.

If you weren’t already aware, Goff threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown as time expired, giving the Lions a 29-27 victory over the Vikings. It was not only the team’s first win of the season, but it was also his first without Sean McVay as his head coach.

Here’s a look at the play, which was the most exciting of the Lions’ season thus far.

Goff hasn’t had much help in Detroit, playing with an underwhelming receiving corps and behind an offensive line that has allowed 30 sacks in his 11 starts – seven more than he had in 15 games with the Rams last season.

Yet, Goff has at least kept the Lions competitive in a number of their games, putting together one of his best performances of the season on Sunday with three touchdown passes and 296 yards.
