Jerry Sandusky's adopted son sentenced to up to 6 years on sex abuse charges
Jeffrey Sandusky, the adopted son of former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, will serve up to six years in prison.
Sandusky pleaded guilty in September to charges of sexual abuse against two minors. Friday, he was sentenced to a minimum of 3.5 years in prison. From the Centre Daily Times:
Sandusky was slated to go to trial for the charges in September, but pleaded guilty to 14 counts, including charges of criminal solicitation — statutory sexual assault 11 years or older, criminal solicitation — involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a person younger than 16 years old, criminal solicitation — photograph of a sex act involving a child, unlawful contact with minors, sexual communication with minors and criminal solicitation of child pornography. Twelve of the 14 counts are considered felony offense
He was facing up to eight years in prison after his arrest on the charges in February.
Jeffrey Sandusky is one of six adopted children of Jerry Sandusky and his wife Dottie. Jerry Sandusky is currently serving effectively life prison sentences for his convictions on over 40 charges of sexual abuse.
The scandal involving Jerry Sandusky at Penn State was cited by numerous Tennessee fans two weeks ago in protest against the school’s potential hire of former Penn State assistant Greg Schiano as the Volunteers’ new head coach. The “proof” was that Schiano was named as a potential witness in hearsay testimony from former Penn State assistant Mike McQueary in an insurance case involving the school.
McQueary and Schiano’s time at Penn State didn’t overlap. Former PSU assistant Tom Bradley, who McQueary said he heard from regarding a possible incident that Schiano witnessed, has denied under oath to knowing anything about Sandusky’s crimes.
