Aaron Rodgers to Packers fans: ‘Take some deep breaths and trust Jordan Love’

During his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he sent a message to Jordan Love following Monday night’s 17-13 loss and related some of Love’s early struggles — including a three-interception performance against the Raiders — to his own from the 2008 season.

Interestingly enough, Rodgers threw three interceptions in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his fourth game as the starter in 2008, and the Packers were 2-3 after five games.

Rodgers said Love has shown an ability to throw downfield, get out of the pocket with athleticism and look off safeties during his first five games of 2023.

And he had this message to fans.

“I would just say to the Packers fans, take some deep breaths and trust this kid. He’s a great kid. He cares about it. He’s going to be around for a while and they are going to get it fixed.”

Love was Rodgers’ backup in Green Bay for three seasons before taking over in 2023.

“Listen, there is going to be growing pains. I had growing pains my first year starting. We all go through it,” Rodgers said. “He’s going to be just fine. He’s a great kid. They’ve got a young team. They’ve had some injuries. Aaron Jones has been out the last few weeks, he’s a dynamic player.”

Jones has missed three of the last four weeks, and Christian Watson just returned to being a full-time player on Monday night. Left tackle David Bakhtiari is out for the season.

Ups and downs are the norm for young quarterbacks in the NFL.

“The important thing as a quarterback is keeping your confidence,” Rodgers said. “You gotta keep pushing through it. Be the same guy every single day. You gotta inspire your teammates every day and bring that consistency.”

Rodgers said the bye week and a chance to play the Broncos coming out of the bye provides an opportunity for the Packers to “bounce back” after two straight losses.
