76ers draftee Filip Petrusev signs one-year deal with Anadolu Efes

Philadelphia 76ers second-round pick Filip Petrusev has signed a one-year contract to play next season with Anadolu Efes in the BSL and EuroLeague in Istanbul, Turkey.

Petrusev, who was the 50th overall pick, was named the Adriatic League MVP last season after averaging 23.7 points and 7.6 rebounds in 21 games with KK Mega Basket. He shot 58% from the field, including 41.9% from 3-point range.

The 21-year-old appeared in four games with the Sixers in the Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 4.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and two blocked shots. He recorded his best game on Aug. 12 after registering eight points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

76ers president Daryl Morey said after the draft that Petrusev would likely play next season overseas before joining the organization. He projects to be a player that could eventually help the Sixers but will likely need more time to develop and be ready to contribute.

Prior to playing professionally, Petrusev spent two seasons with the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He was named the 2019-20 West Coast Conference Player of the Year after averaging 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds while shooting 56.2% from the field.

The 21-year-old also recently participated with Serbia during the Olympic qualifying tournament, averaging 15.5 points and five rebounds prior to losing to Italy in the finals. He finished fifth in scoring among all players in that tournament.
