Taylor Swift Is Apparent Mystery Buyer of Old Hollywood Goldwyn Estate

It looks like Taylor Swift will soon be walking the same halls as Hollywood icons like Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis, Cole Porter and Frank Capra. Variety reports that Tay Tay just purchased the Samuel Goldwyn estate for a cool $25 million cash.

Yahoo Real Estate has seen the property records and can confirm that the buyer is an LLC that shares a Nashville address with her fan club, Taylor Nation. And the LLC, Leo Realty Ventures, shares the name of her new godson, Leo, born to model Jaime King in July.

But Swift is being a bit coy, tweeting an implied-but-not-quite-denial (which referred to a Scottish castle she has unequivocally denied buying). “What the press says I’m doing: Buying a Bev Hills mansion, getting married in an English castle,” the tweet said. “What I’m doing: Playing a show in St. Louis.”

The famous property was built in 1934 by architect Douglas Honnold for Hollywood heavy hitter Samuel Goldwyn Sr., the guy who put the G in MGM. It went for about 10 percent below its most recent $28 million asking price – and about 35 percent less than the $39 million it was asking when it first hit the market in March.

The home was owned most recently by Samuel Goldwyn Jr., who produced more than 20 films, including “Mystic Pizza,” “Fatal Beauty,” “Master and Commander” and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” His estate sold the property after his death in January.

The property is nearly 2 acres nestled in the hills behind the Beverly Hills Hotel, just off the chicest part of Sunset Boulevard. The main residence measures 11,000 square feet and has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a library, a 35mm projection theater, a card room, a gym, an updated kitchen, and a guest suite with a private entrance, among other amenities.

The grounds include staff lodging above the garage, a sunken and lighted tennis court, and a pool with a pool house that includes a kitchenette, plus manicured gardens and lawns with multiple water features and sitting areas.

But don’t expect Swift to be spending the majority of her time in this storied property. The 25-year-old has become quite the real estate Baroness of late, according to Variety. Her portfolio includes another, smaller Beverly Hills estate; a duplex penthouse and a Greek Revival residence on about 6 acres in Nashville; a seaside estate in Rhode Island; and Peter Jackson’s former spacious, two-unit duplex penthouse in Lower Manhattan, from which she threw out Jackson’s house guest, Ian McKellen (!).
