Take a Peek Inside Maya Angelou’s $5.1M Harlem Brownstone

Maya Angelou’s Harlem brownstone has hit the market for $5.1 million, a record for the new New York City neighborhood.

The listing comes just a few months after Angelou’s estate put her sunny, yellow North Carolina home up for sale for $805,000.

Angelou, who passed away in 2014, purchased the five-bedroom brownstone in 2002 and used it as her home away from home when she was visiting New York City. There is plenty of her influence throughout, including her artwork and hand-selected tiles in the bathroom (as well as lots of bookshelves).

Her home is North Carolina has not yet sold. The price has been reduced since its October debut to $725,000.
