‘Star Trek’-Themed Theater Lands in Houston
In a town outside Houston, a Star Trek fan with a vision sought to boldly go where no one had gone before: Re-create the USS Enterprise as a home theater with all the bells and whistles.
Actually, other homeowners have gone there before, but this nearly 6,400-square-foot mansion and its USS Cyrus, as the homeowner calls it, may be the only one on the market right now.
“He’s always been interested in space travel, in being in the stars, and he decided that if there was no way to travel to the stars, he’d bring them here,” said listing agent William Machupa, Jr., of 1st Texas Realtors.
For $1,265,000, a new owner can enjoy the Star Trek-inspired addition to the whimsical mansion. Elsewhere in the home, one of four bedrooms is decked out as a medieval castle, and another has a staircase to a loft decorated with musical notes.
By the indoor pool is a staircase for beaming up to the Star Trek extravaganza. Enter through pneumatic doors with activation pads that flank a 100-plus-inch screen beneath a faux-starlit sky.

The Texas company that built the space, Tiny Town Studios, specializes in playhouses, treehouses and fantasy-style pool additions, such as shipwrecks.
