Update: America's overwhelming fascination with the Kennedy family, and their home life, doesn't seem to be waning any time soon. They are basically our royal family, after all.

And on January 23, 2016, an auction of the family's furniture brought in almost $500,000, greatly exceeding expectations, according to Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, which hosted the sale.

A few items stood out in particular, including a set of Venetian-style twin beds where President John Fitzgerald Kennedy slept as a young man — first next to his brother Joe Kennedy Jr., and later next to his wife Jackie Kennedy. The two beds brought in $20,000, though the pre-sale estimate was only $3,000 – $5,000.

The walnut massage table where he received massages to help with back pain sold for $10,625 — the estimated price was only between $2,000 and $4,000.

If buying presidential artifacts isn't really your thing, though, you can always vacation like a president instead.

Previously: Florida may not be the first location that comes to mind when thinking about the Kennedy family, but America's royal family actually had a vacation estate in West Palm Beach for decades.

The 15,347-square-foot mansion was affectionately called the "Winter White House," as President John F. Kennedy and his family would escape the cold of Washington D.C. and travel down to the family home in Florida regularly during his time in office.

Originally purchased in 1933 by JFK's father Joseph P. Kennedy, the home remained in the Kennedy family up until 1995, when merchant banker John K. Castle bought the estate and all of its furnishings for $4.9 million.

Castle recently sold the mansion to real estate heiress Jane Goldman for $31 million, but retained ownership of the Kennedy family's belongings. Now, he will be auctioning off almost 300 pieces of furniture and decor from the home at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in January, 2016.

Leslie Hindman told The Palm Beach Daily News, that many historical items would be up for auction, including "Venetian-style twin beds where the future president actually slept."

And while the entire catalog has yet to be released, you can take a peek at a few of the items that will hit the auction block below. They just may be worth a visit to the Sunshine State (we hear it's lovely in January).
