The Great One has been busy dumping some real estate.
Wayne Gretzky is selling a town home in Thousand Oaks, CA, shortly after finding a buyer for his home in Scottsdale, AZ. Don’t worry about Gretzky being out of a place to live; the hockey legend still owns a 4-bedroom home in Westlake Village, CA, as well as a condo in Palm Harbor, FL.
The town home sits within the Sherwood Country Club at 2342 Heatherbank Ct, Thousand Oaks, CA 91361. According to public records, Gretzky bought the home in March 2000. The purchase may have been a way for Gretzky to try out the country club life; just two years later, he bought land to construct an enormous custom estate designed by architect Richard Landry. He sold that home in 2007, and now with the listing of the town home, it looks like he is ready to leave the area for good.
Measuring 3,758 square feet, the town house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms situated on a “serene” cul-de-sac with views of Lake Sherwood and the Santa Monica Mountains. As with many of the properties in Sherwood Country Club, the residence has access to the club’s amenities.
Gretzky was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame after retiring in 1999 and is considered to be one of the best hockey players in the NHL’s history.
With a list price of $1.899 million, Gretzky’s town home would cost a future buyer about $7,500 a month, assuming 20 percent down on a 30-year fixed mortgage, according to Zillow’s mortgage calculator.
