Before Honey Boo Boo or the Disney channel, Shirley Temple was the child star who held America captive, singing, dancing and acting through the 1930s.
Temple signed her first film contract at age 3 and made her silver screen debut at age 6, but prior to her stardom, she lived in Santa Monica with her family. Her early childhood home at 948 24th St, Santa Monica, CA 90403, just hit the market two weeks ago at $2.489 million. Indicative of the Southern California real estate market’s strength (or perhaps the appeal of living in a child star’s home), the house sold in just two weeks, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Built in 1926, the bungalow still showcases original Spanish-inspired charm in its exposed wood beams, coved ceilings and doorways, and gleaming hardwood floors. Updated and designed for a modern eye, the 3-bedroom, 2-bath home has new stainless appliances in the kitchen as well as bathroom upgrades.
The landscaped lot has fruit trees and two outdoor patios.
Temple, known today as Shirley Temple Black, now lives in Woodside.
Sotheby’s International Realty agent Shen Schulz holds the listing.
