Melanie Griffith’s Latest Role: Starring in Ad for Her Own House, $8.9M Aspen Log Cabin

Melanie Griffith stars in a new teaser trailer, though this one is not for a movie, it’s for her house.

In the video, Griffith strolls with her real estate broker through her 12-acre property in Aspen, Colorado, autumn foliage glittering as it falls around her. The video will air on regional cable soon, the New York Post reports. She doesn’t say anything, really, just walks in frame wearing sunglasses, a gray shirt and jeans.

Apparently she’s choosing to let the house speak for itself – though not literally, as Michael Jordan’s mansion does in his cocky real estate trailers. And it’s debatable whether either star’s promos are quite as good as the cheeky promo video for a Las Vegas party mansion with a jet wing on top.

She is asking $8.9 million for the “Griffith Estate on Aspen Mountain,” or she’s open to renting it for $65,000 a month. The price has been slashed from last year, when it debuted on the market at $9.9 million, around the time she and Antonio Banderas announced they were ending their 18-year marriage.

This past spring, the couple also listed their high-drama Los Angeles home with a two-story banquet hall and a “master wing” containing his-and-hers dressing rooms and bathrooms. It sold quickly for very close to its $16 million asking price, breaking neighborhood price records.

This two-story log cabin is a little more humble—well, if you can apply that word to an 8,000-square-foot home in a ritzy ski town. It’s perched quite nicely in a glowing gold forest in Colorado, with wide windows that offer really excellent views of the snow-capped Aspen Highlands Ridge. (There are also views of the Conundrum Valley, though that sounds less appealing.) Scroll down for photos.

The property includes a main house with five bedrooms and six bathrooms as well as a two-bedroom guest house. There’s also a historic cabin—the original home on the property—complete with running water and a fireplace.

The video describes the estate with four words: “Refuge. Reserved. Refined. Rare.” The listing is more emphatic: “Everyone dreams of their mountain cabin in the woods. Well, this is the ultimate that has it all!”

Fingers crossed that this is the start of a new trend of celebs starring in their own real estate videos.
