Jane Fonda’s Forked Lightning Ranch Finally Finds a Buyer

Jane Fonda has found a new owner for her “enchanted place,” Forked Lightning Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico, according to Swan Land Co., which had listed the 2,300-acre property at $19.5 million.

The deal was made under a confidentiality agreement, so the buyer and sale price are private, but listing broker Mike Swan told the Albuquerque Business Journal that the buyer is local.

Fonda bought Forked Lightning in 2000 and turned to it as a refuge during her difficult divorce from media mogul Ted Turner.

The property includes hiking and horseback riding trails as well as 3.5 miles of the winding Pecos River. Fonda added the nearly 10,000-square-foot home to the land, along with other improvements and renovations.

The ranch has been on the market since last summer. The property’s agent Mike Swan told the Business Journal the new buyers are very excited.

“It’s an iconic piece of Northern New Mexico history. They’re looking to carry on the tradition of being good stewards of the property as Ms. Fonda has.”
