Watch Ted Cruz do his best Homer Simpson impersonation

D'oh! Senator and 2016 GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz got informal with BuzzFeed and mimicked characters from “The Simpsons” in a video released today by the online outlet.

The clip shows Cruz doing his interpretations of Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns and Kang, all normally voiced by Harry Shearer, who is leaving the show. Cruz also plays both roles in what he calls “one of the great exchanges between Homer and Lisa,” an argument about the latter’s vegetarianism.

The BuzzFeed video accompanied an article titled “Ted Cruz Knows How to Go Viral” about the tea party Republican’s history of orchestrating Internet-friendly moments and his skill at social media (he confesses to reading his @ mentions on Twitter every morning). According to the article, the video’s script was presented to Cruz’s press secretary at the end of his interview, without any prior warning or agreement. Cruz, apparently a fan of the long-running animated series — and of doing impressions — agreed immediately to the stunt.
