Things got a bit tense in New Hampshire on Tuesday morning when Marco Rubio’s supporters encountered demonstrators wearing robot suits.

Since Rubio’s woeful performance during Saturday’s Republican presidential debate, men dressed as robots have been trolling the Florida senator on the campaign trail, mocking what they call the GOP hopeful’s robotic rhetoric.

The anti-Rubio demonstrators, who were enlisted by American Bridge 21st Century, a progressive political action committee, were first spotted Sunday outside a town hall event in Londonderry, N.H., with cardboard costumes bearing the messages “Marco Roboto” and “Rubio Talking Points 3000.” They followed Rubio’s campaign bus to Manchester on Monday, standing outside the Puritan Backroom restaurant before the candidate’s arrival.

But outside the Webster School polling station in Manchester on Tuesday morning, Rubio volunteers and campaign staff appeared to have had enough with the robots.

In a video posted to YouTube, several Rubio supporters can be seen trying to block the robots with their campaign signs, with one ultimately grabbing a robot around the neck.

“Why do you have your hands on me?” the person in the upgraded robot suit says.

Another demonstrator, clad in a cardboard robot suit and wearing a silver colander as a helmet, appeared to have been knocked to the ground outside the school.

Rubio himself smiled as he walked past one of the demonstrators while reporters and robots chased after his campaign bus.
