The historic nuclear deal reached between Iran and six world powers Tuesday was announced the way most things are in 2015: via a tweet.

“#IranTalks done,” Federica Mogherini, vice president of the European Commission, wrote on Twitter. “We have the agreement. #IranDeal.”

Shortly after the deal was struck, President Obama delivered a statement at the White House.

“This deal is not built on trust, it is built on verification,” Obama said with Vice President Joe Biden at his side. “Every pathway to a nuclear weapon is cut off and the inspection and transparency regime necessary to verify that objective will be put in place.”

World leaders, including Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, quickly weighed in on the deal.

Members of Congress chimed in, too.

Sen. John McCain, though, remained skeptical.

House Speaker John Boehner called the agreement “unacceptable.”

Sen. Marco Rubio denounced the deal as “dangerous.”

He even circulated a petition against it.

On Twitter, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement a “historic mistake.”

Rouhani dismissed Netanyahu’s response as “propaganda.”
