The historic nuclear deal reached between Iran and six world powers Tuesday was announced the way most things are in 2015: via a tweet.
“#IranTalks done,” Federica Mogherini, vice president of the European Commission, wrote on Twitter. “We have the agreement. #IranDeal.”

“This deal is not built on trust, it is built on verification,” Obama said with Vice President Joe Biden at his side. “Every pathway to a nuclear weapon is cut off and the inspection and transparency regime necessary to verify that objective will be put in place.”

The #IranDeal is based on hard science. Our nuclear experts & #NationalLabs helped shape the negotiations w/ rigorous technical analysis.

Members of Congress chimed in, too.

Sen. John McCain, though, remained skeptical.
So inspectors will only have full access to “key” #Iranian nuclear facilities - which are those and who makes that determination? #IranDeal
— John McCain (@SenJohnMcCain)

Based on what we know thus far, I believe that this Iran deal undermines our national security.
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio)
Pres Obama has consistently negotiated from a position of weakness, giving concessions to a regime that has American blood on its hands.
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio)
This regime holds Americans hostage and has consistently violated every agreement it ever signed.
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio)
I expect that a significant majority in Congress will share my skepticism of this agreement and vote it down.
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio)
Failure by the President to obtain congressional support will tell the Iranians and the world that this is Barack Obama’s deal… (½)
