Instagram Cuba – a photographic view

This slideshow is part of a weeklong Yahoo series marking one year since the opening up of relations between the United States and Cuba.

What does Cuba look like today? Vibrant images of Cuba posted by Instagrammers Desmond Boylan @desboylan, Patrick Oppmann @cubareporter, Roberto Suárez @cubaenfotos, Alexandra Oppmann @cubajournal and Michael Petit @low843 show this long off-limits nation to the outside world through social media. Scenes on display include: female members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces; music on the famed Malecon, the seawall that runs along part of Havana; tropical scenes; colonial architecture dating back to the 16th century; colorful carnivals; the under-renovation El Capitolio building; government bodegas; vibrant city streets and nightlife; classic American cars pressed into service as city taxis; old Havana; people playing dominoes; and Our Lady of Regla, the black Cuban virgin and patron saint of mariners.
