DES MOINES, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson isn’t too keen on Jay Pharoah.

At least he said as much at a Bloomberg Politics breakfast briefing hosted by Al Hunt here on Wednesday morning. When asked what he thinks about the numerous “Saturday Night Live” skits in which Pharoah depicts the neurosurgeon as a sleepy, monosyllabic weirdo who holds his hands close to his chest like a T. rex, Carson replied:

“Let me put it this way: I’m honored. I’m the only person in history to have four separate segments on ‘Saturday Night Live.’”

(There are actually five at this point.)

When Hunt followed up to ask whether Pharoah did a good Ben Carson, the novice politician did not hold back.

“Not very good,” he said.

Asked about Pharoah’s impression by CNN’s Jake Tapper, Carson said, “Hey, if we can’t laugh at ourselves, we’re in really serious shape. I have no problem with that at all.”
