Bobby Jindal through the years

Bobby Jindal, 44, the governor of Louisiana, is running for the Republican nomination for president, the first Indian-American to seriously contend in either party. Born in Baton Rouge to immigrant parents, he is a graduate of Brown University and a Rhodes scholar. He served two terms in Congress before winning the race for governor on his second try, in 2007, and was reelected easily four years later. He has taken strongly conservative positions on fiscal and social issues, including signing a controversial bill that critics say will permit teaching creationism in public schools.
