The Song That Magically Stops This Baby From Crying

"Screaming, crying, perfect storms," Those are a few lyrics from Taylor Swift’s, "Blank Space" — or you know, life with an infant on a daily basis. But in a welcome and glorious twist, Swift’s song has the opposite effect on 6-month-old Rosie. In the adorable video above, the infant can’t be consoled — until Swift’s song is played.

Rosie’s mom, Erica Blank, tells Yahoo Parenting that the video was filmed as she was sitting on the couch with her daughter lying on her thighs. “She was overtired, since it was close to nap-time.”

"I asked my husband, Jon, to pull up ‘Blank Space’ on the computer, mostly because we wanted to videotape Rosie’s reaction to the song," the first-time mom says.

The stay-at-home mom says there’s always YouTube music videos on during the day and that her daughter loves to watch Taylor Swift. “That’s why Rosie turned her head in the video — she was looking for Taylor, because she sits on my lap at our desktop and watches her.”

When the YouTube video garnered around 200,000 views, Blank’s mom called, joking that Taylor Swift must have showed it off. Only it wasn’t a joke — and there’s more than 400,000 views as of press time.

On Monday, Swift tweeted to her 53.7 million followers: “THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN,” linking to Blank’s video. The singer also posted it on her Facebook page, where she has more than 74 million likes.

"I don’t really use or understand Twitter," Erica admits while laughing. "I can’t even remember my handle. When I found out, I didn’t know how to reply to Taylor’s tweet, but maybe I retweeted it. I think?"

STORY: Why Moms Get Nothing Done

Blank, who is active on Facebook, did post a comment under Swift’s Facebook status celebrating her daughter. “Thanks for sharing the video! Rosie is your biggest, littlest fan.”

It’s no surprise Rosie was consoled by a song. Music has been shown to calm distressed children. Babies are even born to dance, according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Mom says Swift’s music is a lifesaver in the car, too. “Rosie isn’t a fan of her rear-facing carseat and the little owl I hung up for her back there. When she’s fussy I play her favorites: ‘Blank Space’ or ‘Shake It Off’ … and she calms right down.”
