The One Parenting Move Kim Kardashian Refuses to Make in Public
There are a few things Kim Kardashian won’t do in public — and breastfeeding is one of them.
“Now that I’m a mom, I’m not that shocked, especially if you have a few kids and can’t leave to breastfeed one kid in the bathroom while leaving the others at the table,” she posted on her blog Monday, writing about her experiences with new son Saint West. “But I still personally wouldn’t do it, unless it was an emergency situation and I was fully covered.”

Many people have commented that they’re confused by Kardashian’s reluctance to breastfeed in public, in light of her decision to allow her E! reality show to broadcast footage of a doctor lasering stretch marks on her breasts that developed as a result of nursing her first child, North.

“I find it weird that she said she wouldn’t nurse in public unless it was an emergency and completely covered but the world has seen you naked, what am I missing?” wrote one woman on Facebook. Another wrote, “Kim Kardashian can make a sex tape and pose naked numerous times but isn’t comfortable breastfeeding in public? Sounds legit?”
In fairness to Kardashian, if she chose to discreetly nurse her son in public, the photos would make national news. How she chooses to breastfeed within her own home has even been covered by TMZ.

The mom, who delivered Saint on Dec. 5, says she is no longer bothered by other moms who nurse in public, and is OK with letting a chosen few be present when she nurses her children in private. “I would however breastfeed in front of my girlfriends,” she writes on her blog. “I think it’s such a natural experience and I’m not shy about that. I know so many people get backlash for posting breastfeeding pics, but I don’t mind them!”

Kardashian writes that she acknowledges people have their own opinions and choices. “I know some people find breastfeeding such a private, personal experience, while other people are very open and even breastfeed in public,” she wrote.
It’s an evolution from 2010, when the reality star came under fire for tweeting disgust about seeing a woman nursing in a restaurant: “EWW Im at lunch,the woman at the table next 2 me is breast feeding her baby w no coverup then puts baby on the table and changes her diaper,” Kardashian wrote.
The next day, she was quick to clarify that she wasn’t against breastfeeding altogether: “My sister breast feeds! Its a natural beautiful thing, there’s nothing wrong w it, but she covers herself, not w her boobs exposed,” she wrote. “And you DON’T change a dirty at the dinner table…u use the restroom. Everyone was complaining! Just unsanitary.”
