How Prince George and Princess Charlotte Will Spend Christmas

In a rare print interview, Prince William has opened up about the royal family’s plans for Christmas, which he says will involve church, presents, and a very excited Prince George.

Speaking to the Big Issue, a magazine sold by the homeless in the U.K., William said that this year 2-year-old George has caught on to the excitement of the holiday. “George will be bouncing around like a rabbit,” he told journalist Sophie Kichou, a homeless 24-year-old whom the prince first met five years ago. At the time, William told the journalist that one day she could interview him, and on November 24 he sat down with Kichou at Kensington Palace to fulfill that promise.

“I think George will be extremely bouncy this year because he’s suddenly worked out what Christmas is all about,” William said. “If I get any sleep on Christmas Eve, it’ll be good.”

The prince admitted he’s bracing himself for their first Christmas as a family of four. “That will be two children, one who suddenly appreciates Christmas, which could be quite challenging. But I’m looking forward to it,” he said. Rather than open all presents on Christmas Eve, a longstanding royal tradition, the family will exchange gifts during a relaxed family celebration on Christmas Day at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, the Big Issue reports. “We’ll go to church as a family on Christmas Day, as we always do. Then we’ll watch George try to tackle his presents as he tries to unwrap them,” William said. “It’s a very different experience at Christmas, having a family of your own.”

Will is hoping, too, that his kids will get to see some snow this holiday. “It’d be nice if we got a white Christmas,” he said. “Because we haven’t had one in many years.”
