Heartwarming Way Little Boy, UPS Make Kids’ Wishes Come True

Adorable preschooler and UPS’s biggest fan Carson Kight is back. Last year, the 5-year-old, whose dream is to become a UPS driver, was given his very own mini truck thanks to UPS’s Wishes Delivered campaign, where people can write in about a remarkable person or organization and request that UPS grant their wish (for each wish request shared via #WishesDelivered, UPS will also donate $1 to one of five charities, up to $150,000).

This year, Carson and UPS are paying it forward by helping three little friends who are equally obsessed with UPS get their own trucks and participate in a driver’s training camp. And it’s all captured in a heartwarming video that was released on Dec. 17 (watch above).

STORY: UPS Makes a Little Boy’s Wish Come True in Heartwarming Holiday Ad

“Carson has always said, ‘I wish other kids had trucks to play UPS with me,’” his mom, Karen Kight, tells Yahoo Parenting. “Also, the truck he got last year is almost completely dead — the motor is almost gone. He has driven it into the ground because he drives it all over the neighborhood.”

So Kight reached out to UPS to see if they would do a follow-up story and grant wishes to other children who dreamed about having their own UPS truck. Susan Rosenberg, director of public relations at UPS, was moved by Carson, who uses his truck to deliver cookies and food baskets to his neighbors, and wanted to do something. “That inspired us,” Rosenberg told Yahoo Parenting. “They really were paying it forward in their community. So we thought, ‘How can we extend this and show the good will that this family has?’”

So UPS invited Carson and three other children to their sorting center in Englewood, Colo., where the kids were presented with their own mini UPS trucks. Carson was thrilled to get a brand new supervisor truck, which comes with some upgrades, including a pretend radio that makes siren noises. He told Yahoo Parenting that his favorite part is “the horn!”

After climbing into their own little trucks, Carson and friends drove through a driver’s training camp that UPS set up, where the kids learned about how to properly deliver packages and navigate different obstacles, including a “bubble storm.” Carson said it was “fun” being able to give trucks to other kids, and that his favorite part of training course was the bubble storm.

After completing driver’s training, the kids gave back by delivering presents to children at the Ronald McDonald House in Aurora, Colo.

“It was emotional and touching for me that they chose the Ronald McDonald House,” says mom Kight, who mentions that their family stayed at a room there when Carson was born and that the family donates to the organization every year. “It brings back all of the memories of when he was first born. And it was a special thing that the kids got to participate by giving gifts [to the children staying there].”

She adds: “It’s been very humbling that UPS chose Carson to continue the story and to be able to pay it forward.”
