It’s good to be Prince William — on June 21, he turns 33 years old and celebrates Father’s Day. The father of two has had some adorable “dad moments” over the past two years — from wearing matching sweaters with Prince George to sharing the excitement (and exhaustion) of newborn life with Princess Charlotte. Here are 13 reasons Will is an awesome father.

He shared his excitement about soon-to-be born Princess Charlotte.

In September, a spokeswoman for the royal family announced that Middleton was expecting the couple’s second child. “Obviously we’re basically thrilled. It’s great news,” William told reporters at Oxford University. However, he kept mum about Charlotte’s sex and name until she was born in May.

In May, during a visit with England Women’s Football team, William shared some details on life with 3-week-old Princess Charlotte. “He said George is very lively, and Princess Charlotte has been keeping him up all night, giving him a few sleepless nights,” England Captain Steph Houghton said. “But he said he was just happy to have them both here.”

On the day Charlotte was born, royal expert Katie Nicholl told Us Weekly that Prince William got his wish: A daughter. "I know Prince William will be absolutely delighted,” Nicholl told Us. “He has secretly wanted a little girl. He wanted a girl [since] Prince George’s [birth]. And I think it’s wonderful. Now they have one of each.”

On July 23, 2013, one day after Prince George was born, Prince William gushed about his adorable son to the crowd on the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital (and snuck in a compliment to his wife) “He got her looks thankfully,” he said of George and Middleton.

A few weeks later, during his first interview since becoming a father, William told CNN, “As any new parent knows, you’re only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best looking or the best everything.”

During that same interview, the future king also boasted that he changed Prince George’s first dirty diaper. "I did the first nappy, it’s a badge of honor,” he told CNN. “I wasn’t allowed to get away with that. I had every midwife staring at me, saying: ‘You do it, you do it.’”

When Middleton and Prince William left the hospital for the first time with newborn George, all eyes were on the family as they climbed into the car. When William didn’t secure George properly into his car seat (the straps were too loose and George was swaddled), the Internet pounced on the rookie dad, criticizing him for being unsafe.

Later, the prince told CNN that he had practiced before the big day. “Believe, me it wasn’t my first time,” he said. “I was terrified it was going to fall off or the door wasn’t going to close properly.“

Despite securing his future as the king of England, Prince William is figuring out fatherhood one step at a time. “I’m just doing it the way I know how,” he told CNN. “You know, if it’s the right way then brilliant, if it’s not, if it’s the wrong way then I’ll try to do it better.”

While visiting London’s Natural History Museum on July 2, 2014 Prince William entertained his son with a butterfly that had perched on his hand. The British photographer who captured the visit said that George seemed fascinated by the butterflies but slightly afraid when they got too close.

Shortly after the birth of Prince George, Prince William told CNN that being a dad has made him grow up. "The last few weeks for me have been a very different emotional experience, something I never thought I would feel myself,” he said. “And I find, again it’s only been a short period, but a lot of things affect me differently now.”

On the family’s trip to Australia in April 2014, Will and Kate took their son to Taronga Zoo in Sydney. While watching the animals, Prince William placed a sweet kiss on his son’s head.

On the day Princess Charlotte was born, William carried George into the hospital to meet his little sister. The two princes wore matching blue sweaters and waved to the crowds together.

During the Trooping the Color parade on June 13, Prince George stole the show when he waved to the crowd from the balcony at Buckingham Palace. Royal fans take note: The little prince wore almost the same blue outfit that Prince William wore on the same balcony in 1984.
