What Expectant Parents Around the World Pack in Their Hospital Bags

The contents of maternity bags brought to the hospital vary greatly around the world — from iPads and massage oils in the U.S. to basins for collecting river water and plastic sheets for keeping the bed clean in Uganda. This is according to a new project from WaterAid’s Deliver Life campaign, which aims to provide 130,000 moms and families around the world safe water this winter. Every minute, a newborn baby dies from infection caused by a lack of safe water and an unclean environment. And this project, WaterAid America chief executive Sarina Prabasi said in a press release, “was a way of connecting with people all over the world. Mothers want to have the best conditions possible for themselves and their newborn babies.”
