Anna Duggar Opens Up About Visiting Josh in Rehab, ‘Most Difficult Year of My Life’

Full of “grief and discouragement” is how Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna, described in a new statement the past 12 months amid fallout from her husband’s molestation scandal and revelations that he is addicted to pornography and had cheated on her.

“Many have asked how I am doing,” Anna wrote in the short piece posted on the Duggar Family blog on Saturday. “So many have asked that it’s actually humbling and touching. 2015 was the most difficult year of my life. Yet, amazingly I’ve found that in my own life crisis God has drawn near to me (“He’s near to the brokenhearted” Psalms 34:18) and my faith has been more precious to me than ever before.”

The 27-year-old revealed that she has gone to see her husband, also 27, at the Rockford, Ill., center where he has been undergoing faith-based rehabilitation since August. “Just recently I visited Josh,” wrote the former 19 Kids and Counting star. “It was an important step on a long difficult road.”

And the steps that she’s taking are reportedly toward caring for, not calling off, her marriage of more than seven years. “Anna is planning on getting back together with Josh; that’s just how it goes,” an anonymous Duggar family source told Entertainment Tonight last month. “The family was taught to have a new level of forgiveness toward Josh.”

Indeed, Entertainment Tonight reports that the pair have been writing love letters to each other as Anna divides her time between her parents’ home in Florida and the Duggars’ digs in Arkansas with daughter Mackynzie, 5; sons Michael, 4, and Marcus, 2; and daughter Meredith Grace, 6 months, while Josh remains in Illinois.

“I trust that God will continue to show His love and tenderness toward us and bring beauty from ashes — somehow — as only He can do,” Anna wrote in her statement, wrapping up with a heartbreaking plea: “Please continue to pray for me, Josh, and our children.”
