The 53rd NAACP Image Awards nominees are announced and unsurprisingly, Zendaya, Issa Rae and Megan Thee Stallion are leading the pack of talented nominees.

In a virtual special event hosted by Proud Family’s Kyla Pratt, Black-ish actor Marcus Scribner and singer-songwriter Tinashe, Issa Rae's groundreaking HBO Max show Insecure received a deserved nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, while Zendaya earned one for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in the Netflix dramatic romantic film Malcolm & Marie. This would not be the first award Zendaya would win for her acting chops. The former Shake It Up star made history as the youngest woman to win an Emmy for her outstanding portrayal as Euphoria’s Rue.

Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion competes with Lil Nas X for the title of Entertainer of The Year, alongside comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish, actor Regina King as well as singer and actor Jennifer Hudson.

H.E.R., Chlöe, and Drake have also earned four nominations each in the music categories while the star-studded Netflix film, The Harder They Fall has garnered several shout-outs, namely for Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture.

Voting is now open to the public on the NAACP Image Awards' website.
