Oct. 6—Youngstown Ursuline vs. VASJ

What: Non-conference game

When: 7 p.m., Oct. 7

Where: Finnie Stadium, 141 E. Bagley Road, Berea

Records: Youngstown Ursuline 5-2, VASJ 6-1

Last week: Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary def. Youngstown Ursuline, 35-28, VASJ def. Bishop Hartley, 21-20

For the record: VASJ got a biggie last week when it came back from a 20-7 deficit to beat visiting Bishop Hartley. As the game wore on, the Vikings two-headed monster at running back — Amani and Bo Jackson — chipped away at the Hartley defense. The Vikings' offensive line enforced its will as the game went on. That also set up the play-action pass for QB Kylan Steuball. ... Ursuline is rated fourth in Division III, Region 9, while VASJ is 13th. In last week's loss to SVSM, Jack Ericson threw for 219 yards. Receiver D.C. Ferrell caught nine of those passes. Last week's 28 points were the lowest Ursuline has scored in a game all year. Can VASJ get its running game going early and win the time of possession battle? That could keep Ursuline's scary offense safely on the sideline. ... VASJ's six-game winning streak is on the line, and this is the best team the Vikings have faced since Week 1 against Hamilton Badin.
