Young cheer team seeking community's help for Disney World competition expenses

About 40 members of a metro area Impact Xtreme Cheer group have their sights set on a mid-March cheerleading competition at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

But first they need to raise enough money for the trip that is fast-approaching.

"We need our community's help to make sure that our girls are able to compete on an even bigger stage," the team coaches expressed in an email to The Oklahoman.

Cheer team members, ranging in ages from 5 to 14, are from across the Oklahoma City metro area and make up Impact Xtreme Royalty and Impact Xtreme Reign squads.

Cost for attending the Florida cheerleading competition is $1,500 per participant, and the group is trying to raise $20,000 to cover registration costs for each athlete.

The public has an opportunity to help the cheer group by attending upcoming fundraisers:

• 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 26 at Ted’s Cafe Escondido, 5301 Main St., Del City; 10% of each sale will be donated. Mention "Impact Xtreme Cheer" at the time of checkout.

• 4 to 9 p.m. Jan. 31 at IHOP, 702 S Meridian; Mention "Impact Xtreme Cheer," and 10% of the meal ticket will be donated to the cheer team.
