The YETI Hondo Base Camp Chair is at once exactly what you’d expect and a bold shift for the brand. It’s also damn comfortable to sit on.

YETI hasn’t rested on the laurels of the indestructible cooler category they put on the map, expanding to everything from dog bowls to backpacks to ... five-gallon buckets. Their Hondo Chair is my new favorite products of theirs, and I’ve used pretty much everything they’ve ever made.

No thought was given to making the Hondo ultralight, packable or minimalist. This is a 16.5-pound car camping, tailgating and backyard beast, and it’s toting a $300 price-tag before accessories. It’s an investment piece, but considering that flimsy portable tables and chairs only exist to be destroyed in YouTube fail videos, it’s not hard to see the gap YETI was aiming to fill here. The Hondo’s quality is to be expected, with support for 500+ pounds and even UV protection. I was much more surprised by how much I liked this chair, aesthetically and ergonomically. Attention to detail, like the fact that the cupholder is designed to stay parallel to the ground through the folding and unfolding process, paint an exciting picture for the future of the YETI brand.

The Hondo is obviously meant for the outdoor enthusiast. If that’s you, have a seat.
