The most important aspect of the Indianapolis Colts first "unofficial" depth chart flew under the radar until Saturday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills:

Second team center: Wesley French.

Second team right guard: Will Fries.

That's right. French Fries lining up next to each other.

French is a 6-4, 307-pound rookie out of Western Michigan who was signed as an undrafted free agent. French got his first playing time in college on the defensive line, recording 22 tackles, 1.5 for loss, in 2018 before converting to the offensive line the following season. He played left tackle in his sixth season with the Broncos and was a three-time Academic All-MAC selection. Alas, his Western Michigan bio provides no information on whether he speaks French or what his favorite foods are.

Fries, 6-foot-6, 309 pounds, was a seventh-round pick in 2021, appearing in three games as a rookie. He started at both guard and tackle positions at Penn State but has been used as a guard by the Colts and is currently the backup to first-year starter Danny Pinter. According to his Penn State bio, Fries' hobbies are fishing and working out.

French is unlikely to make the Colts roster, but could find a home on the practice squad. Fries is expected to be a top reserve so it would likely take a couple injuries to get the French Fries line on the field in a regular season game.

If it happens, however, expect things to get salty.
