In today's unexpected Yellowstone news: The popular Western show could be seeing its end pretty soon, according to Deadline. 😱

Yes, you read that right. And it's okay if you need a second, because so did we. But before you go any further, it's important to note that this information has not been officially confirmed by Paramount—the news reportedly come from a spokesperson at the company.

Sources claimed that season 5 of Yellowstone, which is currently on a break and set to continue this summer, might just be the last we see of John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner.

But not so fast: The story of the Dutton ranch could reportedly continue with another spinoff—potentially seeing Matthew McConaughey as its' lead.

"We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that's the case for a long time to come," the spokesperson said.

However, issues have reportedly come up in regards to Yellowstone's filming schedule.

"The crux of the issue with the original Yellowstone series involves star Kevin Costner and disagreements over shooting schedules," Deadline reports.

Playing leading cowboy, John Dutton—Costner is obviously a huge part of Yellowstone's story. So if the reports are true, this disruption to the show's future would make sense.

So—where does this leave us? Well, Taylor Sheridan is said to be in talks with another Hollywood actor to continue the Yellowstone story.

"Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner,” the Paramount spokesperson told Deadline.

If true, this new spinoff will become part of the ever-expanding Yellowstone universe—joining the likes of 1923 and 1883.
