Yahoo Women's History Month Logo

In honor of International Women’s History Month, Yahoo was thrilled to invite designer and illustrator, Jade Douglas to reimagine the Yahoo Logo. Inspired by the many unique experiences women face, Jade’s positive take on life helped inform the airy, illustrated nature of the redesigned logo.

Coming from a creative home she was always encouraged to pursue her artistic nature and as a woman working in the technology industry, she was particularly inspired by the topic.

“Every woman’s experience is unique, I feel it is crucial that women get as many opportunities to be seen and heard through their own creative expression. The more we share our stories the more we can be understood by each other and therefore strengthen our bonds & connections.”

The importance of the moment resonated with her and the beautiful design shows that.

“To me, International Women’s Day is a moment to check in with each other, look back at what we have achieved and set intentions for the future.”

Following Black History Month, Jade was inspired to make the logo illustration feel inclusive and honor a sense of community.

“I wanted to express the sentiment of all kinds of women from different backgrounds being part of something bigger.”

It’s clear this past year has been challenging for everyone in different ways, but Jade took that struggle to draw on the positive parts of where we are as a community. The women in the illustration have a more serene than celebratory look, something inspired by the moment we’re all in.

“I think female connection and the equality issues that we are trying to tackle in the midst of what is happening in the world made it feel natural for me to draw the women having a more serious look on their face, it was a subconscious choice.”

Like any piece of art in the world, this redesigned logo will touch different people in different ways. Jade Douglas, sees a world of possibilities and hopes people react to the logo by feeling connected to each other and this moment.

“I hope women feel seen. I’d like them to feel inspired to reach out to their friends and family and share messages of positivity and hope for the future.”
