Yahoo readers sound off on Kim Kardashian's comments about 'raising two black men'

After helping to convince the state of Texas to indefinitely halt the execution of Rodney Reed, Kim Kardashian is speaking out about why she felt compelled to get involved.

Kardashian told Jenna Bush Hager, “When you become a mom, you become so protective. You want to hopefully make their world the most perfect place ever, and ours obviously isn’t. And I definitely see how, especially like black men are treated in this country, still differently. And I’m raising two black men.”

The reality star first spoke out in October when she tweeted at Texas governor Greg Abbott, urging him to look into new evidence that casts doubt on Reed’s involvement in the crime that led to Reed’s 1996 conviction on charges of abduction, rape and murder.

Despite another legal success now under Kardashian’s designer belt—her first was helping to free Alice Johnson from prison—some Yahoo readers are questioning whether she really had a hand in the Texas court’s decision, as well as her comments about “raising two black men.”

One dismissed the notion that Kardashian’s influence alone is what moved things along:

One doubted that Kardashian’s children will ever face the same hardships as those who aren’t as wealthy as her:

But at least one commenter defended Kardashian, and said people should give credit where credit’s due:
