The West Texas A&M outdoor track and field team is in as good of position as you can be heading into nationals.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has ranked the Buffs No. 1 in the men's rankings and No. 2 in the women's rankings ahead of the NCAA Division II National Championships.

The men's team is the overwhelming favorite to win it all. On the season, they've scored 316.27 points, 68.3 more than meet host Grand Valley State. WT has 22 competitors in the men's championship.

The women come in ranked behind only Azusa Pacific. However, the women are just 27.6 points behind the Cougars on the season. The Lady Buffs have 19 competitors across 10 events.

The National Championships will take place in Allendale, Michigan from May 26-28.
