Wrangler x Leon Bridges Serves Up a Heaping Helping of '70s Swagger

LEON BRIDGES knows more than a thing or two about looking to the past to craft the creative future. The singer-songwriter has channeled everything from '60s soul to '70s funk in his career, always imbuing his work with a modern perspective while staying true to the musical heritage that informs. Turns out, that kind of approach serves him just as well when it comes to fashion as it does when he's writing songs. Bridges just launched a collaborative collection with Wrangler that's chock full of '70s swagger and damn does it look good.

Chalk it up, at least in part, to the decade's ongoing influence on menswear right now, but it's like Bridges and the Wrangler design team tapped directly into the zeitgeist with this one. That's something that might come off as a bit of a red flag—simply tapping into a trend and slapping a celebrity name on it—if it didn't manage to feel so authentic to Wrangler and to Bridges himself.

"Wrangler will always mean something to me," Bridges said in a statement. "My music journey began while wearing vintage Wrangler, so I am excited to be able to collaborate with them on this exclusive collection." He worked with the Wrangler crew in Greensboro, North Carolina, to scour the archives for inspiration, then met up again in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, to check out prototypes and give feedback on final details.

"It was an amazing experience for me to play such an active role in the creative process from start to finish," Bridges continues in the statement. "Telling the story of my authentic ties and heartfelt passion for Wrangler, this collection is meant to nurture individuality and spontaneity for the trailblazers of today."
