WOMEN'S HOCKEY: Hannah Hogenson to attend USA Hockey National Goaltending Camp

May 16—BEMIDJI — After a strong season in net, Bemidji State women's hockey goaltender Hannah Hogenson has been selected to attend the 2022 USA Hockey National Goaltending Camp later this week.

Hogenson will join 28 other men's and women's netminders for the May 19-22 camp at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.

The camp focuses on on-ice training, skill development, video analysis and team building for American athletes who range from 17-21 years old.

Of the 29 attendees, four come from the WCHA. Along with Hogenson, Makayla Pahl (Minnesota), Amanda Thiele (Ohio State) and Skylar Vetter (Minnesota) will be in attendance.

David Lassonde, USA Hockey's national goaltending coach and a member of the U.S. staff at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games and IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship teams, was excited to welcome in the selections.

"Our staff is thrilled with the elite group of goalies participating, both on the men's and women's side," Lassonde said in a news release. "As we continue the process of identifying potential candidates for our national teams, we are confident the elite nature of the camp will provide USA Hockey with yet another valuable player evaluation tool."

The coaching staff includes Steve Thompson, an assistant on the 2022 U.S. Olympic Women's Hockey Team; Jared Waimon, part of U.S. staffs at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship, and a goalie scout for the Tampa Bay Lightning; and Alli Altmann, the goalie coach for the U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team and for Minnesota State.

The camp will also include oversight from a number of NHL and collegiate goaltending experts.

Hogenson finished the 2021-22 season with a 3.46 goals against average and a .907 save percentage, totalling 22 appearances as a sophomore.
