Women's college basketball: Iowa Wesleyan's Brittany West garners CAC weekly honor

MOUNT PLEASANT — The Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) announced this week's conference players of the week. Iowa Wesleyan University's Brittany West, a senior from Shakopee, Minnesota, earned the title of Women's Basketball Player of the Week after her stellar performance at the CAC Classic this weekend.

West, who is in her first year with the Tigers, had an incredible showing this weekend in the Ruble Arena as the Tigers hosted a CAC Classic. During Iowa Wesleyan's game against Wilberforce University on Friday, West sank 4-of-4 shots from behind the 3-point line, went 9-of-10 from the field, 5-of-5 from the free-throw line, and tallied 27 points. She also added six rebounds, two steals, and two assists.

On Saturday, the Tigers battled the Fightin' Indians of Haskell Indian Nations University. West racked up 20 points, again draining four 3-pointers. She shot one-hundred percent from the free-throw line, going 2-of-2, and added six rebounds, one steal, and one assist.

West has been a key player for the Tigers this season. With her assistance, the Tigers are currently sitting in first place in the CAC and remain undefeated on their home court.

This is the first Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the Tigers since making their return to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and becoming a member of the CAC.

The Tigers will travel to Lincoln Christian University this weekend to compete in a CAC Clash. On Friday, the Tigers will take on Bacone College at 2 p.m. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, Iowa Wesleyan will face Northern New Mexico College.
