Woman stunned to learn true identity of her Secret Santa: 'What is going on?'

Have you ever seen Bill Gates and Santa Claus in the same room?

A Michigan woman named Shelby learned she landed the Secret Santa to end all Secret Santas when she received an 81-pound package of presents in the mail — addressed from Bill Gates himself.

Shelby, who goes by the username Szor, joined this year's RedditGift exchange, which the multi-billionaire is known to participate in annually, dreaming of matching with Gates but never really expecting it.

Although the Redditor, who unexpectedly lost her mother in March just 10 days before her wedding, had participated in the online exchange 95 times before, she quickly realized something different was coming her way this year when she received an alert that her Reddit Secret Santa gift had been overnighted from Washington state, where Gate's lake-front mansion is located.

The next day, Shelby received a tracking update, which listed her package's weight as 81-pounds. Thinking it must be an error, she logged into her account and was able to access the sender's return address, including his famous name — at which point, she said she lost her mind.

"What is going on? Bill Gates is my secret Santa, I just won Secret Santa 2019!" she said in a YouTube video detailing the experience.

Apparently, Shelby wasn't the only one in her town who was excited about the package.

She explained that staff at her local post office gave her the celebrity treatment as soon as they learned she was the one coming to pick up the hefty haul.

"They were like, 'OH, IT'S YOU! We've been waiting for you all day! You're the Bill Gates package!'" she recalled.

After struggling to get the sack of presents home, Shelby began opening packages, where she found a note signed by Gates, plus a photo of himself signing the letter to double-prove its authenticity.

"Wow, I'm impressed that this is your 95th Reddit gift exchange!" the multi-billionaire and philanthropist wrote. "You seem like a very generous person, and I hope my gift makes you smile this Christmas."

"At the same time, I know no gift will ever make up for losing someone so important to you," Gates continued. "I was very sorry to hear about your mom, and I've made a donation to the American Heart Association in her memory."

"I hope you and your family find your "new normal" this holiday season," he ended the letter.

Among Gates's other presents were a slew of books and memorabilia from Shelby's favorite movies and television shows, including a Harry Potter Santa hat, a Zelda quilt, a manuscript copy of "The Great Gatsby," two "exceptional" adult-level LEGO sets and a "plethora" of assorted "Twin Peaks" gifts.

Also included in the parcel were a bunch of snacks and some treats and toys for the recipient's cats, Emmy.

Still, nothing meant more to Shelby than Gate's generous donation in her mother's name, which she called "the most special gift of all."

"It means more to me than I can express," she wrote on Reddit.
