Woman, dog found dead after fire in Tempe home near University, McClintock drives

Firefighters found a woman and dog dead on Wednesday after responding to a fire at a fourplex near University and McClintock drives in Tempe.

After receiving calls about a fire around 9 a.m., Tempe and Mesa crews found a fire in the bedroom of one home and put the fire out, according to Andrea Glass, spokesperson for Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department. Firefighters found a woman and her dog and took them out of the home.

Both were dead, according to Glass.

The fire didn't extended outside of the bedroom and other units had residual smoke damage. No one else was injured, said Glass.

An investigator was on scene determining the cause of the fire.
