Woman captures touching moment her sister with Down syndrome goes on date

Tiffany McDowell and Mallory Snellen run Mallory Paige Designs, a small jewelry shop in Trinity, North Carolina. Snellen, with whom McDowell shares a sisterly relationship with, has Down syndrome. For the past year, McDowell has been documenting their “perfectly ordinary life” on TikTok. One of the things that McDowell has shared more and more of is Snellen’s relationship with Stephen, who also has Down syndrome. “Stephen is very outgoing,” McDowell said. “He’s also very chivalrous and kind and takes a lot of pride in treating Mallory very well”. In one TikTok, a beaming Stephen is seen enthusiastically greeting Snellen at her door and taking her on a lunch date. “Oh boy, you guys are so cute,” McDowell says, as Stephen lovingly kisses his girlfriend. McDowell says her aim is to normalize conversations about people with Down syndrome. “Our message is that their life is worth living — and it will include all the ‘typical’ things (good and bad) that one would expect … but, most of all, love”
