Woah! About 200,000 more folks are heading to live here

Forget this whole thing about 100 people are moving to the Nashville area each day. It's about to be 109 people a day, according to new projections from the Nashville Chamber of Commerce.

Good morning, friends, I'm Brad Schmitt, storytelling columnist for The Tennessean.

My colleague/lunch buddy Keith Sharon reports the chamber believes 200,000 people will move to Nashville and surrounding counties in the next five years. Wow!

For perspective, 200,000 is nearly one-third of Nashville's current population. It's about the population of Des Moines, Iowa. Slightly more than Knoxville, Tennessee. Or about the populations of Murfreesboro and Smyrna combined.

It's a lot of people, is what I'm tryin' to say.

Found out where they're coming from in Keith's story.

And in a second story, I take a look at some of our fave (non-country music) celebs — Kathie Lee Gifford, bluesman Keb' Mo', Justin Timberlake (kinda), Scott Hamilton and others — who've moved here in the last 20 years.

Hope you have a great week, and thank you for reading The Tennessean.
