WKYC TV personality Hollie Strano off the air after contracting COVID-19

The morning host and meteorologist of WKYC's 3GO has been off the air after contracting COVID-19.

Hollie Strano turned to social media to update viewers about her bout with the virus.

Strano said her absence on TV was because she contracted COVID despite being vaccinated.

She urged her fans to wear masks.

"This thing is crazy!" she wrote. "Like you, all I want is to be healthy, for you to be healthy, our children to be healthy, etc.

"Be safe. Be wise. I love you."

Strano said she plans to return to her morning duties on the air along with her midday talk show "Live on Lakeside" on the NBC affiliate once she gets cleared by her doctor.

"This is maddening but WE WILL PREVAIL!" she wrote. "You are not alone. The isolation takes a toll on your mental health.

"xoxo PS— Buzz off Covid!"

Strano, who grew up in the Cleveland suburb of Lyndhurst, has been candid with viewers in the past about her own struggles with anxiety.
