Winter weather advisory for Augusta area begins Sunday at midnight

Several cities and towns in the Augusta area are under a winter weather advisory beginning at midnight.

Freezing rain is expected in Thomson, Martinez, Evans, Augusta, Hephzibah, Aiken and North Augusta according to a notice from the National Weather Service. Ice accumulations may reach one tenth of an inch and winds gusts may get as high as 35 miles per hour.

The advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday.
